Polishing

Polishing will bring up the beauty of your floor and provide a couple of layers of protection film to the surface. You can choose from solvent-based/water-based polyurethane or modified oil.

Single pack moisture curing & 2-pack solvent-based polyurethanes (mixture of Part A & B) will produce a clear, hard-wearing surface in a matte, satin or high gloss finish. 2-pack solvent-based polyurethane has better chemical resistance and is more durable than a single pack system, which is commercial grade.

Non-toxic water-based polyurethanes will produce a clear, hard-wearing surface in a matte, satin, gloss or invisible finish which has become trendier these days. While more expensive, they use UV treatment and produce low VOC and odour during application and fast curing so the area is trafficable earlier. Also available in either single-pack or 2-pack systems.

Modified oil coatings are clear varnishes, generally made from a mixture of resin and oil. Easy to apply and penetrating, these give a slightly softer look than polyurethanes but are less hard-wearing & darken with age. With these finishes, a surface polish is recommended to reduce maintenance in high traffic areas.

Anti-slip treatment (R10 or above) is applied to all staircases to meet the Australian building regulations in order to prevent falling and injury.
